online ordering and customer service key drivers in move from SAP
Leading distribution software supplier Strategix has signed a £600,000 contract with IT
distributor Midwich
to supply and implement a complete e-enabled order processing and customer
service system by the end of March 2001.
With the modular, best-of-breed Strategix system replacing an existing business system that
incorporates SAP accounting, Midwich expects to boost its sales growth, improve customer
service by offering customer-specific pricing, reduce IT overheads and trade electronically
for the first time.
Strategix's commitment to have Midwich's system up and running in just four weeks was a
crucial factor in winning the contract over IBS, the other shortlisted supplier. Midwich
plans to go live with Strategix on March 26, an extremely tight deadline dictated by the
company's recent management buyout.
Nick Pye, Managing Director of Midwich, said: "Our very tight timescales demanded a supplier
with real experience in the electronics industry, so they could start our project running
without having to learn the basics of our business.
"Overall Strategix had the confidence, spoke the same language and provided the best fit
for us. They have taken the burden of implementation from our shoulders and have met every
deadline in our tough implementation schedule. We are enjoying a great relationship with
the whole team at Strategix, and expect to do so for many years to come."
According to Strategix Chief Executive, Peter Lusty, the industrial-strength Strategix
software fits the demanding needs of Midwich (formerly Midwich Thame). He explains: "It
offers them a range of extended features from the go-live date, such as support for special
offers and accessory promotion, as well as a fully integrated e-commerce solution."
He concludes: "We are delighted to be working with one of the most famous names in IT
distribution and are looking forward to a successful long-term partnership."
